The lean guide
Why The Fat Won’t Move
You’ve been eating less and less — and the belly’s still right there. Here’s the real reason you’re stuck, and how to actually get lean without the endless cycle.
THE CYCLE YOU’RE STUCK IN
Eat less. Stall. Repeat.
You cut your calories. The scale drops a bit — then it stops. So you cut more. Now you’re eating less than people around you who aren’t even trying, and you still look soft. The second you eat normally again, it piles back on. You’ve run this loop for months, maybe years, and somewhere along the way you got convinced your body just won’t let you get lean.
It will. You’ve just been doing the one thing that guarantees you stay stuck.
THE TRAP
Why eating less stops working
Your maintenance drops to meet you
eating low →
A deficit always burns fat — you can’t fight biology. The problem is eating too low for too long. Your body is smarter than you think: it lowers your maintenance to match your intake, spikes your hunger, and tanks your sessions. The deficit you were in isn’t a deficit anymore — your body dropped down to meet it. So fat loss stalls, you feel like garbage, and cutting further just digs the hole deeper.
FIX #1
A deficit you can actually hold
Get into a real fat-losing state
There’s no magic to fat loss — it’s a calorie deficit, consistently, over time. The word that matters is sustainable: a deficit that you and your body can live with. Not a crash your body has to adapt its way out of.
When the deficit is one your body isn’t fighting, your maintenance stays high and it keeps pulling energy from your fat stores week after week — leaner and leaner instead of plateauing. Slower on paper. Far faster in the mirror, because it never stalls.
FIX #2
Give your body a reason to keep the muscle
Train heavy, or burn muscle
Most guys undertrain — intensity too low, no progressive overload, no reason for the muscle to stay. And muscle is lazy. In a deficit, if you’re not pushing heavy, your body starts burning muscle for fuel instead of fat.
How much of your weight loss comes from fat, not muscle
That’s a loss from both ends: less muscle means a lower maintenance and your body pulls more of its energy from muscle than fat. Train heavy, hold your strength, and you force it to keep burning fat — while keeping the muscle that actually makes you look lean.
YOUR 30-DAY SHRED
Start this today
You don’t need the full plan to start moving. Run these for the next 30 days and the stall breaks. Tap each one:
Eat around 1.6–2g of protein per kg of bodyweight, every day. This is what keeps your muscle while you lose fat — so you come out leaner, not smaller.
Aim to lose about 0.5–0.75% of your bodyweight a week. Fast enough to see it, slow enough that your body doesn’t fight back. The crash is what got you stuck.
Keep your intensity up and write your lifts down. Progress them, or at least hold them. Strength maintained is the signal that tells your body to keep the muscle.
Set a daily step target — 8–10k is a solid start — and lean on incline walking. More burn, less hunger, no wrecked recovery.
Track your weight as a weekly average. If it hasn’t moved in two weeks, make one small adjustment — don’t slash everything at once.
7–8 hours. Poor sleep spikes hunger and tanks your sessions — it quietly undoes everything above.
Now the part I can’t put in a guide
Want this built for you?
You now know what gets you lean: a sustainable deficit and heavy training that protects your muscle. The how — your exact calories, your training, and the small weekly adjustments as your body adapts — is different for every person. That’s the whole job. It’s not a plan you download. It’s me coaching you, one-on-one, from day one until you’re lean.
My guarantee
Follow the plan and show up to your check-ins — if you’re not lean, I keep coaching you, free, until you are. The risk is on me.
I only take a handful of guys at a time. You’ll answer a few quick questions so I can see if it’s a fit.
